Did anyone else do any gardening this year? We started these tomatoes from seed back in early spring! It has been a privilege and a blessing to watch these beauties grow and to be able to harvest straight from our backyard. This year our garden has been slow-growing and not producing as much as it has in the past. I’m not going to lie, it’s been a bit discouraging. BUT, even in the discouragement, even in the wait, there is still beauty, gratitude, and green tomatoes to be found.

Mamma D has come up with an incredible gluten free fried green tomato recipe that just screams “southern summer” and we are SO excited to be sharing with you! You don’t need to have a garden filled with tomatoes in order to make these at home. Grab you some green tomatoes at your local market and give it a try. We hope you enjoy! Find the recipe below.
Homemade, Organically grown, Gluten Free, Fried Green Tomatoes Recipe

This recipe is Gluten Free, Soy Free, Corn Free, Nut Free, Dairy Free, Egg Free, Sesame Free.
Serving Size:
2 to 3 servings as a side dish
INGREDIENTS:
- (2 small) Green tomatoes sliced thin (or thick if preferred)
- 1/4 Cup of GF Flour (Otto’s Naturals Cassava Flour is our choice)
- 1/4 tsp Salt/Pepper
- Olive Oil (or Your choice of oil)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Slice green tomatoes to preferred thickness. I prefer thin as they cook faster. Lightly salt and pepper the slices. Add salt and pepper to your flour and mix. Start heating about an inch of oil while battering your tomatoes. I like to use a cast iron skillet but any skillet that you have should work. Press sliced tomatoes firmly into flour mixture both sides (you may need to do this 2 times) and set aside until all are battered. If you need more flour, add small amounts with salt and pepper and continue pressing tomatoes into the mixture and set aside. You want the tomatoes to be covered with the flour well. Place floured tomatoes into hot oil and flip over to other side when it starts browning. This is about 3-5 minutes per side for me depending on how hot your oil is. Allow other side to brown as well. Take up on paper towel covered plate/platter .

These gluten free fried green tomatoes are delicious as a side or served with your favorite dipping sauce or dressing as an appetizer or snack. Two small thin sliced green tomatoes are enough as a side with a meal for our family of three. These are so good y’all!
